The mission of the WHS Shakes Glacier Survey Team is to provide a unique learning opportunity to the students of Wrangell High School that will expose them to valuable learning in technology and networking, while introducing them to new career ideas and skills in the fields of math, science, and technology, as they simultaneously serve their community. Participation is all volunteer on the adults part and extracurricular for the students.
Wrangell High School Shakes Glacier Survey Team: An all volunteer effort
Eric Yancey, owner/operator Breakaway Adventures - provides free transportation to the glacier, Project Co-coordinator
Mike Howell (late Greg Scheff), R & M Engineering - provides training in survey, survey equipment, and time on field trip
Heather Howe (past teacher Marilyn Burgess), WHS Science teachers - Curriculum Development and Student Coordinator Assistants
Matt Gore, WSD Technology Director -website development support, Drone technology, and mapping support
USFS, Wrangell District - Provides use permit for WHS Shakes Glacier Survey project
Wrangell School District - Allows personnel support and endorses this project
